Designed to help subject leaders gain a clear insight into EYFS practice and how well children are prepared for KS1, our Early Years audits support leaders to evaluate the foundations of early learning.

They are ideal for strengthening subject knowledge, ensuring curriculum continuity and deepening understanding of how early experiences shape future success.

Each audit can be purchased individually for £5, or as a complete set for £40 to support whole‑school consistency.

Reflection, Discussion and Evaluation

Audits support the reflection and evaluation of your curriculum offer and include clear prompts to guide discussion, helping you celebrate what is working well and identify your next steps for development.

They encourage leaders to:

  • reflect on the whole provision, rather than individual classes
  • use the questions to shape meaningful professional discussion
  • be honest and evidence‑informed in their judgements
  • record strengths as well as actionable next steps

Grounded in EYFS Principles

Each audit draws on the seven areas of learning and development set out in the EYFS Statutory Framework (2025), including the prime areas which are critical for building secure foundations:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

They also emphasise the Characteristics of Effective Learning, including playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically - which help practitioners recognise when children are engaged, motivated and thinking.

Underpinning Ofsted Expectations

Ofsted highlights the importance of strong foundations in the early years for enabling children to access the KS1 curriculum with confidence.

The Strong Foundations in the First Years of School report emphasises how early communication, language, literacy, numeracy and social development are central to long‑term success and our Early Years Audits support leaders in evaluating how effectively these foundations are embedded.
