In September, SIL hosted its first AI in Education session for education leaders.

As part of a strategic partnership with Liverpool Hope University, the day brought together expertise from across computer science, digital development, school improvement, and educator development.

What participants said…

“A well-rounded understanding of the subject, some debunking, and reassurance that it's not totally beyond me!”

“A good introduction. I now have a much better understanding and enjoyed the opportunity to have a go at using some of the models.”

“I didn’t have previous experience of AI, and I enjoyed the theory and practical activities throughout the session.”

One participant valued the training so much, they shared that:

“everyone should access it!”

Building on this momentum and insight, the next event will take place on Friday, 28 November.

Designed for Headteachers, PVI Managers, Senior Leaders (all phases), College Principals, Computing Subject Leaders, AI Champions, and Governors, it will help delegates to:

  • Understand the DfE’s latest AI guidance and its implications for your school
  • Gain confidence in evaluating AI tools safely, ethically, and effectively
  • Replace uncertainty with research-driven knowledge
  • Develop a tailored digital strategy aligned with your school’s values
  • Collaborate with experts across education and AI disciplines
  • Support your staff and students to thrive in an AI-driven world
  • Make informed, cost-effective decisions about AI that support teaching and learning.
