Working together to safeguard children

Your concerns may include the following inappropriate behaviours (remember you may see other behaviours that are questionable and should be reported):

Showing a lack of consideration for a child’s dignity or failing to meet their care needs or other additional needs.
Failing to supervise a child or group of children.
Giving preferential treatment or ‘gifts’ that sit outside the school’s rewards policy.
Overtly tactile or affectionate behaviour.
Frequent meetings or time spent alone with a child outside of the classroom or outside of the school day without any agreement with the school.
Meeting a child off-site.
Befriending a parent and visiting the child’s home.
Transporting a child to and from school without any agreement.
Contacting a child by using texts, telephone calls, emails or social networking sites.
Sexualised comments, flirtatious behaviour or other inappropriate comments including inappropriate jokes or banter.
Making racist, homophobic or other derogatory comments.
Showing a child inappropriate materials including sexualised materials.
Using personal equipment to photograph children or photographing a child without the school’s permission.
Making personal comments which scapegoat or humiliate children or encouraging or ignoring others who do this.
Sharing inappropriate personal information with children.
Intimidating or bullying a child, including shouting in anger at them as a form of punishment.
Any form of corporal punishment, physical chastisement or unreasonable consequence to poor behaviour.
Excessive use of force to control or restrain a child.
Commenting about a child or the school inappropriately on a social networking site.
Having a sexual relationship with children, including those over the age of 16.
Using a mobile whilst transporting children.
Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs whilst supervising children or driving children.
