Teaching Relationships and Sex Education in Secondary

Course Overview
This CPD is designed to equip secondary school teachers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies needed to deliver high-quality Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in line with statutory guidance. With the updated RSHE guidance due for implementation from September 2026, the course will also address new and emerging aspects of sexual health and intimate relationships, including:
• Incels, misogyny, and online harms
• Deepfakes and the impact of AI on relationships and consent
• HIV awareness, including PrEP and PEP
• Legal updates on virginity testing and non-fatal strangulation
Through a blend of teaching, interactive activities, and reflective practice, participants will explore key themes such as consent, healthy relationships, identity, online safety, and inclusive teaching. Teachers will gain a deeper understanding of how to create a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
The course also addresses common challenges in RSE delivery, including managing sensitive topics, responding to pupil questions, and engaging with parents and carers. We will focus on how to address these complex issues safely and constructively, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the young people we work with. By the end of the course, participants will feel empowered to deliver RSE with clarity, sensitivity, and confidence, fostering positive outcomes for all pupils.
