About Wirral WRAP School:
The School is an independent 39 week specialist day provision for boys and girls,   aged between 11 and 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Beechwood, Wirral. 

We are an aspirational, exciting and innovative school with a strong desire to develop both students and staff.


We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. 

We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training.

 All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.

Health & Safety


Ensuring that area of work complies with legislation relating to Health & Safety and observing and implementing specific responsibilities in relation to these matters as detailed in WRAP policies.


Safeguarding
Create a positive and safe environment for the student to work in
Be aware and familiar with WRAP policies and other guidance on the safeguarding and promotion of the well being of children and young people. Taking the appropriate action in accordance with WRAP policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 where required.

What you will need for this role:


An enhanced DBS
Previous experience in working within a school setting
This role will be working full time: Monday - Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm.


Summary
As a Teaching Assistant (SEND), you will support students with special educational needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment. Reporting to the classroom teacher, your core experience with children will be essential in providing tailored assistance. Your premium skills in special education and teaching will enable you to effectively engage with students, while your relevant skills in tutoring, mentoring, and communication will enhance their learning experience. 

This role is vital in helping students with autism and other needs, achieve their academic and personal goals, making a meaningful impact in their educational journey.


Key Responsibilities:
To work independently providing Preparation, Planning and Assessment (PPA) cover with a significant commitment to whole class teaching.


To work collaboratively with class teachers to plan, teach and assess an innovative curriculum so all pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, may achieve success in line with the school vision, ethos and aims.


Other Responsibilities:
supporting teachers in the classroom
working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions to small groups
managing classroom resources and behaviour
taking children on trips and visits
having lunch with children who struggle with SEMH
managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
playing board games
conducting science experiments
making amazing displays
celebrating success
being part of therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods
providing cover for teachers if required
 

Personal Qualities

As a Teaching Assistant you will play a vital role in educating and inspiring students within their studies. Your primary responsibility will be to help deliver engaging lessons, foster a love for learning and support students in their academic journey. You will collaborate with colleagues to create effective lesson plans and provide a nurturing environment for students to thrive.
