Developed by SIL’s Health & Wellbeing team, Food Discovery is a brand-new suite of digital resources designed to support wellbeing, creativity, and curriculum goals through practical cookery education.
Rooted in the pedagogical and hands-on insight developed as part of our practical in-school cookery programme, our Food Discovery is a toolkit that empowers educators to embed food education into everyday school life.
Whether you're introducing a new food curriculum or enhancing existing provision, the Teacher’s Guide provides step-by-step support for planning, delivering, and evaluating engaging sessions.
The My Food Discovery Journal is a companion resource that enables children to reflect on their learning and culinary experiences.
Food Discovery offers:
A Whole-School Approach
Supports school food policy development, leadership engagement, parental involvement, and community partnerships.
“Food Discovery isn’t just about making food – it’s a foundation for children to become confident, curious, and capable chefs.
Our resources not only support staff to deliver meaningful, inclusive, and safe learning experiences that meet National Curriculum requirements, but also enable children to explore and build positive relationships with food.”
Niki Horton, Health & Wellbeing Manager, SIL
