Concerns about any adult working at the school or setting.

If your concerns are about any adult working at the school, other than the headteacher, you should discuss them, without delay, with your headteacher (or principal). In the absence of the headteacher discuss your concerns with the Deputy Headteacher or the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

If your concerns are about the headteacher (or principal) you should discuss them, without delay, with the chair of governors (or chair of the management committee or proprietor of an independent school). If you do not feel comfortable in doing this, you can contact children’s services or the Local Authority’s Designated Officer via children’s services.

Either the headteacher or chair of governors (or chair of the management committee or proprietor of an independent school) should then act as the case manager.

Action

If you suspect a child is in immediate/imminent danger there should be no delay in ringing the police.

The case manager should make a referral to the L.A.D.O. following local procedures.

When it is alleged a criminal offence has been committed ensure that children’s services has notified the police or report it directly.
