Senior Leader (English Language for Families Programme)
EAL Practitioner

Suitable for all phases, our In-School Practitioners (Curriculum & Pastoral Support Officers) are aligned with classroom practice, Ofsted expectations, and are experienced in all stages of language development.

An on-site programme, supporting parents and carers to acquire English.
A centrally delivered online programme covering the breadth of EAL Practice and Pedagogy.
An on-site visit to support with evaluating pedagogy, practice and planning next steps.
Language Acquisition Manager
Gill is a qualified teacher and has taught both in the UK and internationally.
She is an Associate Tutor at The University of Liverpool, having recently co-delivered an Advanced EAL Pedagogy module.
She champions a holistic approach to learning and holds an in-depth knowledge and understanding of established communities, alongside new and developing ones.
Curriculum and Pastoral Support Officer
Glynis is a dedicated and qualified EAL/ESOL tutor, with a passion for both language and culture.
She thrives in her multifaceted role at SIL and is experienced in setting up new projects and learning programmes to engage ‘hard to reach’ pupils and their families.
Outside the classroom, her role as a carer provides her with a deeper insight into the difficulties & challenges SEN pupils may face in school, and in the wider community.
Curriculum and Pastoral Support Officer
Donna has worked as a Curriculum and Pastoral Support Officer for over 20 years and employs a multi-faceted approach to learning, through Percussion, dance, drama, Film-making, music, storytelling and games
She can deliver assemblies and class workshops on themes such as diversity, equality, role models and Black History and is a keen historian and author, having published books about the history of Liverpool’s Black community and the SlaveTrade.
Donna has a keen interest in wider inclusion and has developed a number of initiatives, including our popular ‘Rainbow Smiles’ as well as creating a number of short films.
Curriculum and Pastoral Support Officer
Steve is a qualified languages teacher with a passion for linguistics and a deep understanding and appreciation of the language barrier facing our students from overseas.
With a keen eye for detail, he leads a wide range of educational projects, aimed at supporting and raising educational achievement amongst minority ethnic pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 throughout Merseyside.
Energised by the challenges of bridging the attainment gap in secondary schools and driven by an authentic desire to serve diverse communities, Steve has worked tirelessly over two decades to improve outcomes for EAL learners.
EAL Specialist Teacher and Training Coordinator
Julie began her teaching career in 1987 and holds an RSA Diploma in ‘Teaching English Across the Curriculum in Multilingual Schools’.
As an EAL specialist teacher, she has worked across all age ranges and delivers EAL training across Liverpool and other local authorities.
She has a particular interest in managing the support for new arrivals with EAL in secondary schools and has expertise in developing speaking and listening skills for EAL pupils in the EYFS and primary phases.
