Governor Training SLA

Access a comprehensive training programme, covering the needs of both new and experienced Governors and Trustees.

Clerking Service SLA

Our popular and effective clerking service supports boards to meet all constitutional and procedural requirements.

  • Assists “Boards to meet statutory and procedural arrangements" (DfE guidance and Academy Articles of Association)
  • A named clerk to work with your board
  • Professional presentation of agenda and minutes that accentuate governor's challenge and record the main points of discussion, decisions reached, and any actions to be taken
  • Advice and guidance on governance legislation
  • Monitoring of Governor attendance at meetings.

GovernorHub Knowledge

A trusted and accessible online portal for Governors and Trustees to manage their board operations.

  • Secure, GDPR-compliant storage for your minutes and documents
  • Flexible working on a variety of devices through apps and the GovernorHub website
  • Access to news and articles written by a team of governance experts
  • Interactive training to help governors and trustees feel prepared and up-to-date
  • Access to a database for MATs and academy chains, enabling you to manage lists of Governors.

Governor Support SLA

Benefit from timely advice and guidance delivered by an experienced team that can help you navigate any governance matter.

  • Access to telephone, email and in-person support
  • Advice on fulfilling the core functions of Governors/Trustees 
  • Support with conflict resolution, for example, how to deal with complaints from parents
  • Advice on constitutional and procedural matters
  • Access to Governance Digest – our termly newsletter.

On-Site Consultancy / Training

A bespoke session for your board at a venue and a time that suits you.

  • Course deliverers are all experienced trainers with suitable expertise
  • Tailored to address your unique objectives and aligned to your board
  • Arrange around existing board meetings to minimise travel and resource 
  • Previous sessions have included, Induction for new governors or Training for Clerks.
From £130 +VAT for a 1 hour session.

Governor Training PAYG

For those Schools / Settings that do not buy into the Training SLA.

  • Benefits both new and experienced governors and trustees
  • Expert trainers who will support the development of strong governance  
  • Choice of daytime or evening online sessions
  • Previous sessions have included: Induction for New Governors, Preparations for Ofsted, Safer Recruitment and Financial oversight.
£130 +VAT per Governor, per session

Minuting Service PAYG

This service is most suitable for boards to cover short-term absences or one-off meetings. 

  • Professional presentation of agenda and minutes that accentuate governor 'challenge'

  • Provide an accurate record of the main points of discussion, the decisions reached, and any actions to be taken.

£255 +VAT per two-hour meeting. (£70 per additional hour)

Tailored Support

Support that provides additional capacity and ensures compliance.

  • Complaints Support to ensure panel compliance with Stage 2 of your complaints policy.
  • Pupil Exclusion Panel to ensure compliance with DfE statutory guidance.
  • Parent Governor Elections on behalf of the School (with or without a ballot)

Dave Cadwallader

Governance Lead

Dave has led the Governance team for over 20 years and is an expert in supporting schools and academies to strengthen governance.

He is an established trainer across Liverpool and neighbouring local authorities and worked as a consultant for the National Governance Association to develop and deliver the Governors’ Leadership Development Programme.

Dave is currently Chair of a MAT and two maintained school boards, and sits on an Interim Executive Board.

Terry Brown

Terry has managed the clerking service for twenty-five years, providing expert support to hundreds of regional schools.

He developed a training programme for local clerks and has previously delivered sessions on behalf of the National Governance Association.

Terry is also an experienced clerk, bringing operational knowledge and skills to his strategic role.

In addition, he also volunteers as a Deputy Chair of a local primary school.
